Storm with Sunlit Funnel Cloud, Southwest Illinois

Always have a camera! I took this photo from an airport limosine while returning home from a trip to Alaska in June, 2000. This picture was taken looking northeast from I-270 near Edwardsville, Illinois; the storm was somewhere to the northeast of Edwardsville. Even though it was some distance away, we could clearly see rotation in the lowered area under the base of the cloud.
