Observations of Major Winter Storms and Interesting Weather Phenomena


November 7 Winter Convection - Pagosa Springs, CO Area - I photograph afternoon convection with winter mixed precipitation from Pagosa Springs to near Treasure Falls, then get video in the evening of a winter thunderstorm with graupel (snow pellets) along with smaller amounts of hail, rain, and ordinary snow. This system also brought substantaial snow to the mountains above 9,000 feet. Includes photos and video.

September 30 Thundersnow - Wolf Creek Pass, CO and Vicinity - I catch three waves of thundersnow in and around Wolf Creek Pass, CO, as a band of thunderstorms associated with a persistent western trough passes through the high country. Includes photos and video.
